Dishwashers leak water for two reasons.Â
There could be several reasons why your dishwasher won’t turn on or start. It could be the door isn’t sealing shut, broken thermal fuses, electronic controls, or a motor relay. That being said, the most common reason your dishwasher isn’t turning on is that the machine isn’t getting electricity. Make sure your dishwasher is plugged in and that the circuit breaker isn’t switched off.Â
If the door doesn’t close because of the latch, the dishwasher won’t start as a safety measure to prevent leakage. If the thermal fuse is the problem, the control board can’t receive power, hence why the dishwasher won’t start.Â
Check for connection using a multimeter using the two wires from the thermal fuse, located by the control panel. Some dishwasher models use a start-relay on the main pump motor. If the dishwasher model has a start-relay to supply power to the motor, check the relay continuity using a multimeter. The relay is located or mounted to the motor.
When the water isn’t filling or draining properly, your dishes will come out dirty. The dishwasher won’t fill for a few reasons — the door switch or float switch is broken, or your inlet valve is defective. If your dishwasher isn’t draining, there’s likely a faulty drain hose or a broken drain pump motor.
If your dishwasher seems fine, but the dishes don’t come out clean, there’s probably an issue with the housing gasket, filter, spray arm, or water tube.Â
A faulty spray arm won’t target the dishes to clean them effectively. Make sure the spray arms can move freely in your machine and unobstructed by any dishes.Â
The filter is the mat at the bottom of the dishwasher that catches food particles that could prevent your dishwasher from draining. Use a vacuum to remove the debris.
A properly running dishwasher should also heat dry your dishes. Before you take out the drying towel to hand-dry your dishes, give us a call. When this happens, there’s usually a broken heating element that needs repair, the thermostat is malfunctioning, or the rinse aid dispenser is the issue. SMS Appliances fix all of these problems on all brands and models of dishwashers.
If the fridge door isn’t shutting properly, you’ll get a pool of condensation inside the refrigerator and possible leakage. Not to mention, your electricity bill will go through the roof as your fridge works twice as hard to stay cool.Â
A faulty door may require new hinges, resealing, latches, and gaskets to close correctly. When it comes to burnt-out light bulbs, we can source the specific bulbs for a wide range of household fridge models.
If you find your detergent is full even after a cleaning cycle has been run, you’ve essentially rinsed your dishes with water. This problem happens due to a damaged wax motor, malfunctioning timer, or a broken bi-metal release. When your dishwasher does not dispense the soap or detergent properly, it will rinse your dishes but not wash them. Reach out to SMS Appliances to have this problem fixed for good.
Make sure the detergent dispenser isn’t blocked by dishes or utensils. Check if the dispenser door is functioning properly. Sometimes switching detergent brands can also solve this issue.
Run a cleaning cycle using vinegar, baking soda, or a dishwasher cleaner. Ensure proper ventilation around the dishwasher. Clean the filter regularly and remove any food debris from the drain.
